Official: Duma may get bill raising retirement age on Thu–Fri

MOSCOW, Jun 14 (PRIME) -- A government’s draft law raising the retirement age can be submitted to the State Duma, the parliament’s lower chamber, on Thursday in the evening or on Friday in the morning, Yaroslav Nilov, chairman of the State Duma committee for labor, social policies and veteran issues told PRIME.

“I may assume that this will either happen today in the evening or tomorrow in the morning… Remembering the practice of pension changes in the past, I do not rule out quite a severe scenario which will be softened by the second reading,” Nilov said.

Sources said on Wednesday that government will most probably submit a bill raising the retirement age to 63 for women and 65 for men from 55 and 60 respectively to the State Duma on Thursday.
